Anglo Coal, the coal sector of Anglo American, is planning to invest a total amount of 4 billion USD in China for a coal mining joint venture project. This would be the largest business investment in this country, said Mark Moody-Stuart, Chairman of the British-South African mining operator Anglo American. At present, Anglo Coal is preparing a feasibility study for the project in the north-western province of Shaanxi. The project is intended to start in 2009. The company is planning to hold ¡a controlling share of 60 percentï in the joint venture. The remaining portion is then owned by the local authority for geology.
